Are there any copyright issues we should worry about in naming an app? I’m obviously not making anything like McDonald’s App with McDonald’s branding (this was just the first thing that popped into my head). I have a unique app and custom branding, but I’m sure there may be other apps out there with a similar name.
From what I know about copyright, you cannot copyright lists or names. With a name, you need to worry about a registered trademark. And yes, McDonald’s is ™. So is Mattel™. You just need to research your name. Some are fairly obvious (like the two I mentioned) and some are more obscure. I am guessing "Glide™"is a registered trademark.
