You can configure it that way if you wish to.

Not if you want it to look like a detail screen.
You don’t always want an overlay. Very often you want proper detail screens.

My question was from a technical perspective, why Glide isn’t turning the detail screen into an overlay from a technical standpoint as suggested by @Jeff_Hager

I think what would help is a full screen overlay, so the underlying list remains untouched while the overlay is open and filling the entire screen. Only problem is that there’s existing bugs with the back button that have never been fixed either, so the UX is less than stellar when trying to use overlays.

I was planning to go for glide for our business but without this Update i will have to reconsider our options.

We don’t have anything new to share.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, triggering a collection item to open the detail screen as a slide-in or overlay will preserve your position in the collection.
