Adding rows to reference files without exiting from current transaction

Often, a user will be in the middle of entering a transaction and will find that they need a new reference field that is not currently included in the reference table. An example may be entering a person onto a CRM type application and finding they live in Timbuktu and there is no entry on the LOCATIONS reference table with an entry for Timbuktu.
In some platforms I have used, it is possible to specify that a reference file can be added to whilst another transaction entry is in progress.
IS there such a capability in Glide?
Without that capability, it appears that it will be necessary to cancel the current transaction form, then go to the reference table and add the required entry, and then go back in to update the transaction that required the new reference table row.

It’s possible, with a use of a Custom Form. In general, you would have two components targeted at the same user specific column, typically a choice component and a text entry. The user can either select from the list, or supply a new entry. Whenever a new entry is supplied, a custom submit action would add that to the reference table for future use.
