I mean is it a philosophical matter about Glide’s vision, or are there specific technical implications to be taken into account when wrapping an app in Flutter?

A bit of both?

Practically, though, it means that if you try wrapping a Glide app or packaging it as a native app, and something breaks or doesn’t work as expected, there’s little we can do to help.
