What happens if you exceed 10GB of uploads on Pro account?

I’m considering allowing video uploads on my app. Wondering what happens if the total uploads exceed 10GB?

It will work. We don’t enforce the file quota on Pro yet. In the future we will ask you to purchase additional storage at a reasonable rate (storage is cheap).

You should know that Glide has a 10MB file size limit for uploads at the moment. Most videos cannot be uploaded.

Thanks for the quick reply! Do you have a range or estimate of what that cost would be? (As cheap can be relative :slightly_smiling_face: )

What do you think it should cost?

Storing videos is much cheaper than streaming them—if you store 100GB of videos that 1 million people watch every day, the data transfer cost will dominate the data storage cost.

Taking a look at our cloud provider’s pricing, it costs 5x more to download 1GB than to store 1GB. Interesting! That’s something we will have to keep an eye on…

Likewise lol. I’ll factor this into the app design, and keep an eye out for any announcements from you guys.

Looks like asking end users to link to Youtube is the most reliably free option for video for now

Yes, Glide is not made for uploading or streaming video — YouTube is the best option.
