I had the idea of using the platform as a way to undertake where I would create an app and charge a monthly fee.
It turns out that most apps for restaurants and snack bars charge around 100 R$ (Brazilian reais) around 20 usd.
The pro plan only has 10 000 updates per month, just one app for a small restaurant between dishes and drinks makes 1000 updates a day, I said small.
I i love the plataform but i will have to leave because the cost of the app is higher than what I could charge for a small app for a restaurant, this is very sad, what do you guys think about the number of updates per month?
Just curious, what would generate the 1,000 updates daily? Taking customer orders?
For sure… easily just orders and edits… add payments, and employees’ timecards… you end up with many updates and rows… and this is just for one venue… if the app serves multiple venues… then WOW… even the enterprise plan will not be good! LOL… but I have solutions for that
If a restaurant can take 1000 orders a day they should be able to pay the plan
It is Brazil… Not USA… And is not 1K orders… Is 1K updates… Just a observation to adjust your estimation ; -)
That’s why Joe asked if it’s 1000 orders, I’m not saying that it is definitely 1000 orders, but I’m saying if any restaurants can take that many orders daily they should be able to pay a good amount of money to Glide.
In the US… 1k orders … sure… Not a problem…
I don’t know the economy in Brazil… but for sure, in many countries… paying $799… might be more than a monthly income for that business.

I have had issues with updates quota and I have gone back and forth making all the noise about how it was unfair the ratio or updates against the number of rows etc and the allocation of updates across the different plans BUT after sometime, I realised that Glide is on a mission and like any other business, they have a bottom line. One of the toughest things in a business is to know your target market and cater to that market.
Glide is not suitable for what you want to do. Sure you can create your app just as a proof of concept and an MVP and then when you are ready to make money or scale after having proven your concept, you can then look across other platforms (WordPress - Woocommerce) or even ask @Uzo about his solution which seems to be able to by-pass all the constraints you are worried about.
Glide is versatile and I guess that is why sometimes we would want to use it in things which it is not suitable for and eCommerce type of Apps is not one of those you can easily build with Glide at least not on a limited budget anyways.
exactly
Uzo aswer perfect this…
easily just orders and edits… add payments, and employees’ timecards… you end up with many updates and rows… and this is just for one venue… if the app serves multiple venues… then WOW… even the enterprise plan will not be good!
