Hi Glide community,
I’m working on a Glide-based SaaS and would love your input as I refine the model.
The product is a bespoke project management system for learning development—something instructional designers (IDs) and organisations can use to track content creation, review cycles, SME feedback, deadlines, etc.
Here’s how I’m planning to structure it:
Individuals (freelance IDs, small teams) can subscribe to the SaaS version via a subdomain (e.g., app.mysite.com) and start using it right away.
Organisations that want more control can purchase the full Glide app template, either to self-host or for us to help customise.
My main questions for you all:
-
Is this dual offering (SaaS + template) a good idea on Glide from your experience?
-
Any tips on handling licensing, branding, or managing multiple org templates at scale?
-
How do you usually position Glide-built tools to enterprise buyers vs solo professionals?
-
Suggestion on strategy, good practice are welcome!
Both offerings, SaaS and template, are possible on Glide. Your application as a SaaS product via Glide’s marketplace which is still in the making. Your application as a template in Glide’s template gallery. See Glide’s website for more information about both.
I have personal experience with neither. From what I’ve heard, building out the product is easier than bringing it to market.
For your other questions, these topics are discussed more on the Slack channel dedicated to Glide Experts and on calls among the experts. If you’re not a Glide expert yet, you might want to look into joining the program.
I believe @sardamit published quite a few templates in Glide’s template gallery. He might have something to share.
Independent of templates or SaaS products, it’s an interesting question. Glide experts build for small projects, small and medium-sized established businesses, and finally for entreprise. I feel the general tendency is that the bigger and more experienced the agency/freelancer, the bigger the clients get.
The positioning of Glide apps: I think Glide does a good job on their website at communicating positioning, what is meant to be built on Glide, and therefore to a certain extent what types of companies the applications are for. The typical answer is that you can build “B2B internal business apps” on Glide. I think applications built on Glide can be used by businesses ranging from a solo lawyer practice to an entreprise with thousands of employees. At the end of the day, a Glide app is meant to address internal business processes, and these exist in companies of all shapes, form and size.
This is discussed at times on the channels used for the Glide Experts program.
