Live/active users

I’m interested to add a display in my Admin screen that reports the number of live/active users. Has anybody done this?

My base-plan seems cumbersome: Install a trail of ‘set column, time-stamp actions’ at all the main action points in the App… recording the current date/time into the user’s row. The app would then filter for users with a time stamp within the last few minutes… I would probably need to add about 10 such events.

But is there another way?!

That’s probably how I would do it. I can’t think of a better way off the top of my head.
