Hello, I am working on an app that allows people to find professionals ( so two different users). Is it possible to allow users to match to professionals [like tinder] but allow a higher paying user to just view local options like a directory? Thank you for your insights!

It depends on the complexity of your proposed matching algorithm, but I imagine this would all be possible.

User Profiles, User-Specific Columns and Tab Visibility are your friends.
