Hi Glide Community! :thailand::rocket:

I’m excited to share my very first project built on Glide: Goo Thailand – a smart, premium digital travel guide specifically tailored for popular tourist hubs like Bangkok and Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui.

The app is successfully deployed to the Apple App Store and is currently in the final review stage for the Google Play Store.

Goo Thailand aims to replace messy, outdated travel blogs with a sleek, actionable mobile experience. It’s designed for international tourists, expats, and digital nomads to explore the country with ease.

:hammer_and_wrench: Current Features Built on Glide:

  • Region-Based Discovery: Curated listings for restaurants, nightlife, beaches, and local hidden gems in Bangkok and Pattaya.
  • Currency Converter: A built-in tool for tourists to easily track and convert exchange rates on the go.
  • Travel Checklist: An interactive packing and preparation checklist tailored for trips to Thailand.
  • Multi-Language Architecture: Fully localized into 4 languages (English, Turkish, Russian, and Chinese) using dynamic conditional logic.
  • Live News & Safety Alerts: A real-time travel feed to keep tourists informed about local news, official airport alerts, and upcoming events.

:crystal_ball: Future Roadmap & Social Vision:

Since this is my first Glide app, I am constantly thinking about how to expand its capabilities. In the near future, I plan to add:

  • Native Audio Dictionary: A basic language guide using Glide’s built-in audio player.
  • In-App Messaging & Social Features: Turning the guide into a social platform where travelers and expats can connect, chat, and share tips in real-time.

Hi, great job. How did you managed to upload it on app store?

@scotfield123 Thanks! It is a bit of a process, but all worth it. I’ve tried to list the whole journey step-by-step below:

  • Wrapping: Since it’s a Glide app, I used a wrapping service to build the native containers for iOS and Android.

  • Analytics & Integration: I set up a Firebase account and obtained the necessary keys to integrate tracking.

  • Push Notifications: I implemented OneSignal to manage push notifications effectively.

  • AI Backend: For the AI route planner feature, I utilized Cloudflare Workers, while the rest of the app logic remains on Glide.

  • Store Setup: I created developer accounts for both Google Play and the App Store and prepared all the required store assets and details.

  • Approval Process: This was the most challenging part. It takes time and requires patience. I had to go through several iterations to meet their strict guidelines, such as adding a privacy policy and a mandatory “delete account” feature for users.

It’s a bit of work, but totally doable. If you decide to list your own app on the stores and need a hand, feel free to reach out anytime
