Godaddy Nameserver Necessary?

I just got off the phone with Godaddy, looking to configure DNS settings. Hopefully in an hour the site will be up again. But right before I got off the phone he told I needed to change my two NAMESERVERS. Any risk involved? Has anyone delved into this? Is this necessary?

No. Just edit the DNS records, no need to touch the nameservers.
