A calendar style list is essentially nothing more than a regular list sorted by date, with grouping turned on and some extra styling.

If you look at this post, this is something I did in my app with a simple card list layout, grouping, some heavy (ugly) CSS manipulation, and some helper columns to help with date formats, rollup totals, etc.

Is there a calendar view in pages?

For the record, the existing calendar list layout in Apps is not very efficient in the way it works behind the scenes. It needs a complete rebuild all around. It’s much slower than any of the other list layouts, and lacks some important features, such as limiting the number of displayed rows and having a “See All” option. If you’re ok with not having a 100% matching look and feel for a calendar list layout, you can pretty much get away with using any other list or collection style.
