Glide Page > Form/screen sloooow loading time

If you log into this app and go to rego-test page does it take ages to load the form?

It took almost 30 seconds for me :astonished:

Loads immediately for me.

I’m having a similar problem with a diff page:

This also took 30+ seconds to show the form fields after the rest of the page loads.

  1. Login screen is for new and returning users
  2. New users complete rego form (it’s an edit of their record excluding their email address they used to log in)
  3. Button triggers custom action to update rego date with current date and time.

Previewed in Firefox desktop and mobile with wifi and mobile data and safari on mobile with mobile data.
Can anyone see a reason why?

Just as feedback: I signed into your project on a Macbook Air, Brave browser, and it took approx. 35s for the form fields to load.

EDIT: Signed in from Paris, France.

Thanks so much. That is what I am seeing too.

The form fields loaded immediately for me. Is your user table a glide table, google table, or something else?

Excel sheet in O365.

What browser/device are you using?

It loads only like 30 seconds later for me. From Vietnam.

This one also loads immediately for me.
Chrome on MacOS.

Im using Android/Chrome in the U.S.

Any ideas about why this is happening?
Client won’t be happy with this.

I wonder if it would be different if the user table was a glide table. Just wondering if there is some sort of sync issue with excel.

Okay.

So the client wants everything in an Excel file in their O365 account.

Is it the way Glide’s integration works?

I don’t know. I’m just throwing out ideas. I don’t know if that’s the problem or not. My guess is something is preventing that user row from generating right away. I use google sheets as an external database, and I don’t have any problems. I’ve used glide tables and haven’t had any problems. But, I don’t have any experience using Airtable or Excel.

When I run into problems like this, I try different things to narrow down any potential causes. We could discuss and speculate all day why it’s slow for some and not slow for others, but until we try some things, we won’t know for sure. Maybe it’s an excel problem. Maybe it’s a glide problem, Maybe it’s a regional problem. Maybe it’s a networking issue. Or, maybe it’s something entirely different.

The first thing I would try is to temporarily switch the user table to a glide table. Keep your existing screen intact and connected to your Excel table, but create a duplicate of your user table as glide table and a duplicate of the registration screen but based on the glide table. You may even want to just duplicate your app to try this experiment so you aren’t tearing into your existing app. It would be a good first step to confirm our eliminate excel as the source of the problem.

Experimentation shows that this only applies to syncing to tables in Excel.
The form was loading data from an initially blank row in Excel created when the user logged in in my Users table.

Therefore, creating a Users table in a Glide table solves this timing issue for me.

Question for Glide Team: Why does this syncing take so long (sounds like it is dependent on where you are in the world as some people said it worked for them). I am in Australia. If this is a location-dependent issue, is it on Glide’s side or Microsoft’s side? If Glide, then can it be fixed? We rely on Excel in O365 for data sources as client’s require this. Again, if this is within Glide’s control then I’d expect the same experience for users anywhere in the world, regardless of how that is achieved.

Thanks for your help everyone.
