Just to confirm, what does the create template on the Apps Dashboard exactly do?

Does it just create a duplicate of the current app connected to a duplicate of the current data and allow you to share it with the store or build on it in the future?

any changes you make to the original app or the template layout or data are not connected to each other right?

Yes, you’re right. It creates a different app, disconnected from the original that allows you to submit it to the template store or share via link with anyone

Correct.

Private Templates have limited use. I find them most useful for sharing Apps with others.
