Convert Glide Tables to Glide Big Tables

Hi there! I remember to have read somewhere that in the near future (by the end of the year) it will be possible to convert Glide Tables to Glide Big Tables.
Is this still on? We have an app for a client where we will be running pretty close to the 25k limit by the end of the year and it would be awesome of conversion was available by then (I can do a manual conversion but building screens etc will take some time)

This is the closest to an official word on this that we have.

Hey folks, as @david mentioned, we now have a process to migrate Glide Tables into Big Tables that we are offering to Business and Enterprise customers on a case-by-case basis. Please note the following before considering it:

  • The process is very new and experimental. It has only been tested on one production app so far, in addition to our internal testing.
  • Any API calls, Make/Zapier automations, and screens that were bound to the old table should continue working without rebuilding them. However, do note that Big Tables have some limitations, and any functionality that’s not supported will no longer work after the migration.
  • You should enable the "More computed columns in Glide Big Tables” preview feature in your team settings, and test your existing Big Tables with that enabled before requesting the migration.

We are currently working to unify Glide Tables and Big Tables on the backend, which will make migrating between them safer and easier. Until then, please only consider this migration if you really need to.

If you are interested, please send the app IDs and table names that you would like to migrate to alex.corrado@heyglide.com and I’ll get back to you with more information.

Thanks for the reply, great to hear! I will postpone this untill we really need this (and maybe by then the unification will be done by the Glide team!). Keep up the awesome work

If I want to give it a try, I have a question:

  • I duplicate my current app using the same sheet condition (I’m using both Glide Table and Big Table.).
  • Then, I send you the app IDs and table names.

Will my current app that uses (before duplicating) be affected or encounter any issues due to using the “same sheet” condition when duplicating the app?

Thank you krub

Yes, the migration will affect any app linked to that table, including duplicates.

However each app may have different computed columns, so one app might hit a Big Table limitation, while another would work just fine.

If I migrate a table to Big Table, will I have to build the screens again?
