Academic Free Plan?

Hi GlideApps support,

I’m a teacher and researcher at university of Bordeaux (France). During my NO-CODING courses, I introduce GLIDE solution to my students.

These past years, I always promoted GLIDE to my students. I think GLIDE it the best solution for non-programmer people in order to develop a smartphone interface. I limit myself to organize data and visualize them.

Each student works on a project and has to develop a simple smartphone app.

I have to evaluate each work.

A few years ago, a free plan could publish 3 apps.

Last year, your free plan has changed to limit to 1 published app.

I discover that you’ve changed another time the free plan and now, apparently, a free plan could not publish any app (only draft is possible).

I have simple questions :

* Have you an academic free plan that authorizes to publish 1 app (for a short duration for instance) in order to evaluate student works ?

* If the new free plan is not a bug, how can I have access to the draft of my students to evaluate each of them ? (Each of my students creates an account on glide)

It is very damageable that your free plan is today so restrictive !

I hope you will be able to propose some changes to academic usages.

Don’t forget that academic usages of GLIDE will create, in the future, new customers. Graduate students will be ambassadors for the GLIDE application in the workplace.

Best regards,

Jean-Christophe GONZATO

As far as I know, the non-profit / education plan was frozen.

It’s not a bug. Ideas:

  1. Do you have any Legacy Free Teams in your account? If so, don’t delete them and use them with your students. They allow 2 editors. So if you have 10 of the Legacy Free teams and 10 students, you could invite each student to one of the teams, rename the team accordingly, and you could oversee their drafts.

  2. Contact Glide’s sales team. They’ll want to upsell you on an entreprise plan (that’s their job), but as long as you don’t get annoyed by the likely sales pitch, really you have nothing to lose by asking.

Thanks @nathanaelb for your response. Indeed, I have got a very old free plan account (created on the first days of glide existence) that authorizes 3 apps online and teams with 2 editors. Last years, I have just loose google sheets synchro on new apps.

I will test your idea…

Courage, et n’hésitez pas à signaler ici quelle solution vous aurez trouvée.

Hi everybody,

After exchanges with a Glide Human Agent (Kyle), a solution was found to my problem of evaluating the drafts of my students..

Just to remember :

  • More than 80 of my students learn how to use the glide builder
  • Each of one has a free plan that limits only to draft app. Publishing is not possible now.
  • I have to evaluate the works of my students.

Here the solution :

  • Each student converts his app into a template and then publish it. This generates a private link to the template.
  • They send me by mail the link
  • Then I copy into my glide workspace each template and then I can see a copy of their draft.
  • So I can now evaluate my students… (With a bonus to the first student who helps me by testing the procedure).

Have a good day.
