After finally reaching the end of my app building journey I want tell my story and give thanks to the Glide team and community.
I run a small business serving around 20 long term clients and for a long time I have used a very basic shared list app to receive work and manually added this work to google MyMaps, one map for myself for pending jobs updated daily and one for my clients for completed jobs updated monthly. As my business grew this process became very time consuming and I knew I had to seek an alternative solution. This is when I discovered Glide and when my very intense app building process began.
Being completely new to app building I was unaware of how much work was involved, even the most simple task can turn into many hours of frustration and figuring out workarounds that may or may not even work. As it turned out many of my frustrations were actually down to me not understanding how glide worked instead of any real limitations.
However, after about 6 weeks of investing most evenings and Sundays I now have a finished product that is at a stage I can roll out to my clients. I have a client dashboard with toggles to display a pending/completed job chart for the current month, a calendar visually showing when a job was completed, a chat area where I can communicate with each client with a visual notification showing when there is a new chat. There is a separate tab for pending jobs and another for completed jobs both with month selectors and filters for job type. The admin side also has pending and completed job tabs but with a selector to choose which clients jobs to see, an admin dashboard showing numbers of pending jobs for each client and a total for all pending jobs. Then there is an embedded google map for admin which automatically displays custom markers colour coded to an assigned colour for each client when a client adds a new job, and the clients map displays custom markers for when admin marks a job complete which automatically updates to change icon when a job changes or removed once the job is complete.
None of this was easy to build for someone who has never done anything like this before but with the ability of Glide and a lot of help from a.i I managed to get everything to work. This app, once being used by my clients and myself on a daily basis is going to save me about an hour a day and nearly a full day at the end of the month come invoice time. I could not be happier with the result and really excited about introducing the app to my clients.

After going through this process I now genuinely enjoy using Glide and already thinking about what else I could build. This could be the start of a long term passion for something I never thought I would enjoy so much.
