Hello - I’m attaching couple of screenshots to visualize this scenario: when accessing ‘data’ stored under “hamburger menu” the “tabs” (at the bottom of the screen) disappear on iphone (I can see them on iPad) – which leads me to couple of UX topics that I have noted on screenshots.
I’m not sure if the tab disappearance is part of the current intended navigation flow, or am I missing something while composing the app? IDEALLY, to avoid overcrowding with tab icons, I would want to see the tab menu visible REGARDLESS where from I’m arriving at the screens. Or, at least, as demonstrated at the screenshot - IF I’m on a journey through the hamburger menu, at least I’d want to have the hamburger present – otherwise, I need to click/tap “< back” several times in order to return to a ‘starting point’ – please advise - thanks!! – app can be viewed at app.lanesboro.com
Many have same concern and Glide team is aware, but as of now, it is not an option:
Not related to your question, but I biked part of the Root River a few years back. I get to the Rochester area a few times a year, but hope to someday head down to Lanesboro and check out the trails again. Will definitely have to use your app the next time I’m in that area.
@Deena - thanks!
On the other hand then: is this part of nav design that bottom tabs (=icons) will be invisible when you access content through the menu?
@Jeff_Hager - what a small world that’s great to hear!
Well actually I never noticed the pattern before, but when you access a tab via the hamburger menu, you are correct, the bottom menu disappears. I agree with you that, it is very strange and should not be the case. Another advantage of the bottom menu is that when you are layers deep into screens, you can just double tap on a bottom menu item and it will take you back to the top level. So of course that is why we put what is most important in the bottom menu.
@JackVaughan @david --> could you please weigh-in on this topic: I’m attaching screenshot of this (as seen on web/full screen and iPad) --> the bottom Navigation Tabs are visible/accessible even if I navigate from the tab placed under “hamburger menu” – on iPhone these tabs are gone (see 2nd screenshot in my initial post) - I’m not sure if this is due to some trick that I need to implement on my end, or is it currently intentional in your design. Ideally, I’d want these tabs to be visible on all devices - please advise - thank you!!
I’m pretty sure this is just the current design - but I’ll pass on to design team. I see how it’s an issue. Thanks for being so detailed.
