Since they both appear to be the same - what is the future goal of a spacer versus a separator? More spacer options for height, etc
Want to know when I should one or the other (maybe potential future settings or other features) now that I have two options.

I have the feeling the spacer and seperator will be like the 4 title components: same component with different settings.
What Nathan said. Usually, Glide provides these duplicated but preset components because they’ve received feedback at some point from users that were confused how to add a particular visualization. Just a guess though.
This will be my rule of thumb:
Spacer - when visually trying to clean up a screen look, like padding
Separator - when visually trying to present a set of similar data that should be differentiated from other data on the screen
