🆕 Security Center

That is great @Mark - will it meet my requirements as stated up above?

Given your level of concern (I also had same concern about exposure in Network tools), this is also noted in the Security Center:

***Schedule a Security Review with the Glide Team

Perfect Deena. I’ll give that a shot. Appreciated as always.

That will only change what the browser shows your role to be, not what it actually is.

Sorry, there are a lot of comments in this discussion. What are you referring to?

It’s ok @Mark I have a security “chat” scheduled for this evening so I think I can hopefully cover it off in there.

I read today’s Security email - the main app that I have out is one with the purpose of sharing the owner’s email, phone, and contact info - really a virtual business card. Just want to make sure that this will not get flagged as some kind of security breach or weakness by the system. It is sales tool that each person wants to share as much as possible.

You are in charge of your app. Glide does not ‘flag’ apps.

Thanks David,
I know you guys don’t like timelines

But any indications on when these may be available:

  • Row owners from computed columns (my use case is a marketplace where I want both sides to see information only when they are matched)
  • Removing need for sheet mirroring (I guess this could be row owners protect some columns and not others?)

So, ‘Column Owners’?

Hey David,

  • Just computed columns as row owners instead of using the sheet email 1, email 2 technique, i.e. from a relation, or I’m using template > split text to create a computed dynamic array of two emails

  • Then you mentioned you were planning on ‘obviating’ the mirroring technique, do you think this is will be possible in the next month or so? and I’ll wait to see how you do it

Thanks so much super helpful,
George

Hi @david ,

One more security question.

If I have:

  • A booking sheet that does not have row owners, but has two columns with customer ID references (buyer & seller)
  • Then in customer profile sheet create a multi-relation to bring in the rows that associate with that customer
  • Then in their profile create an in-line list to bring in the rows that relate to them
  • Customer can then click link to open detail view of that row

As long as no tabs in the app link to the original sheet, is this a secure method?

I think I saw this from @Jeff_Hager in a previous conversation.

Thanks,
George

If you don’t enable any of the security methods then your data is exposed, I think.

Can one of my row owner columns be the result of a formula in Google Sheets that results in a basic column in Glide?

Yes, it’s possible.

Thanks  Yeah ok, I thought maybe if there wasn’t a tab linking to the sheet then glide wouldn’t pick it up

I guess the question is with relations, does glide pick up all the data and then filter it on the front-end, or only data that directly has the relation?

Please could anyone at Glide let us know if it’s a priority on the backlog or if it’ll be a while and to build workarounds in google sheets?

I’m kind of under the impression that any computed column is actually computed on each device, so all data that isn’t behind a row owner is duplicated as a separate database on each device. So all data is synced and made available to give you instant results if a relation or computed column value changes.

Yeah ok that makes sense thanks @Jeff_Hager

I think I’ll have a play with actions and see if I can use that to achieve what I’m looking for

Hi @david

Any update on this? It’s clear privacy and security are super important to you & Glide. So it would be great to understand where this is on your backlog.

Thanks,
George
