Hey Glide team,
As a builder working on multiple AI-powered apps with Glide, I’ve been exploring the new AI custom component builder and had a thought that could really enhance its functionality and user experience.
Proposal: It would be incredibly useful to have a project-level instruction panel or custom directive input that allows us to define:
- What the app is about – e.g., “This app is a luxury aesthetics CRM,” or “This is a storytelling app for kids.”
- Styling guidelines – such as preferred color palettes, design language (e.g., minimal, modern, playful), or layout structure preferences (cards, tabs, list groups, etc.).
- Component usage tone or theme – for instance, whether components should lean more towards being informative, interactive, or emotionally engaging.
Why it matters: When working across multiple apps with distinct goals and styles, these instructions could:
- Help the AI generate more context-aware and on-brand components.
- Maintain stylistic and functional consistency across all generated components.
- Reduce back-and-forth editing and redundant prompting, ultimately speeding up workflow.
This could be as simple as a “Custom Instructions” box in the AI panel that persists per project or even per user session.
Would love to hear if this is on the roadmap — or if others in the community see value in this kind of enhancement.
Thanks for the incredible tools you’re building.
