Multiple Dimension Grid - Fashion Matrix

Hey there,

I’m trying to figure out whether it’s possible or not to build a color-size (fashion) matrix on Glide.
Is it possible to render multiple-dimension grids?

For context:
A color-size matrix is how apparel retailers track product variants > using a grid. We manage product variants by creating a multiple-dimension matrix aligning the colors of a style against its sizes.

You’d have to be creative with it, but it’s within the realm of possibility. Do you have an example that we could reference?

Hi Robert,

Thank you for your reply.
To give you an example, let’s separate the backend structure from the frontend result:

For obvious reasons, the backend table will be a regular table where every row will identify a unit entry:

Style# Name Color SIZE SKU QTY
001 Shirt Red XS 001-Red-XS 5
001 Shirt Red S 001-Red-S 6
001 Shirt Red M 001-Red-M 3
001 Shirt Red L 001-Red-L 0
001 Shirt Red XL 001-Red-XL 5
001 Shirt Red 2XL 001-Red-2XL 0
001 Shirt Red 3XL 001-Red-3XL 1
001 Shirt Blue XS 001-Blue-XS 2
001 Shirt Blue S 001-Blue-S 4
001 Shirt Blue M 001-Blue-M 5
001 Shirt Blue L 001-Blue-L 6
001 Shirt Blue XL 001-Blue-XL 7
001 Shirt Blue 2XL 001-Blue-2XL 2
001 Shirt Blue 3XL 001-Blue-3XL 0
002 Pullover White XS 002-White-XS 0
002 Pullover White S 002-White-S 3
002 Pullover White M 002-White-M 3
002 Pullover White L 002-White-L 4
002 Pullover White XL 002-White-XL 2
002 Pullover White 2XL 002-White-2XL 1
002 Pullover White 3XL 002-White-3XL 0

On the front end, however, result I’m trying to achieve should look like this:

Style# Name Color XS S M L XL 2XL 3XL
001 Shirt Red 5 6 3 0 5 0 1
001 Shirt Blue 2 4 5 6 7 2 0
002 Pullover White 0 3 3 4 2 1 0

Please keep in mind:

  • I added an SKU column in the entry table to have a unique identifier of the style-color-size combination
  • the size run (S-M-L) should be a dynamic value that may count as little as 1 size up to 15+ columns

I think my question is whether or not Glide has the functionality to display data this way.

To achieve this on the front end, you’ll need to use HTML tables (which admittedly I’m not great at) or using a Data Grid component in Glide pages. Are you using strictly Glide Tables or Google Sheets?

I’m using Glide Tables to test a few things, but I’m very open to using Google Sheets instead.
I guess I’m mostly trying to figure out the limits of Glide when it comes to this kind of matrix UI.
