My app looks flawless on Mobile devices, however on my mac/desktop it looks horrendous. My only solution this far, is to duplicate the project and make an app dedicated to use on desktops. That would however double my costs.
What solutions are there in my scenario?

Funny, I have the same issue with my APP but in reverse! 
And you are correct, this requires a double effort without need.

If you are on a current team plan, a second app would not cost you any extra, unless you have already maxed out the number of published apps in your plan.
Otherwise, you can use device info to control visibility of different things.
