Hi…I’m considering using the services of a Glide Expert. I notice some advertising services less than $1000 but then drop down box to give my budget is for at least $2500. I can’t spend that much.
Also, a lot of what I’m working on is proprietorial, sensitive information, GDPR , and valuable IP etc. How can I protect my company and data when employing and Expert?
Thanks
In that price range, you could expect the development of a barebones ultra basic application, or perhaps the development of a few features.
In the markets I’m familiar with (Germany, France, Switzerland, let’s say the EU in general), depending on the service, it’s usual for an average daily rate for a freelance developer to be in the 600-1500€ range. $1000 would be about a day’s worth of work, $2500 2-3 days. Independent of how a developer might charge you, this should give you an idea of the cost of a developer’s time.
If you’ve tried developing yourself, then you know that doing anything takes time. Gathering your specific needs initially, going back and forth multiple times to scope your project, creating a document that summarizes and clarifies the need so everyone is on the same page: that alone takes a few hours. Feedback via email, messages or calls takes time. Notice that one day billed can be far from one day of development.
If the expert knows exactly what they are doing and are lightning fast, then it might make sense to them to charge for the value delivered and not time spent. In that case, they will still charge you a few thousand for a craft that they’ve perfected.
I agree with Darren, $2500 isn’t much for an app. Then again it might depend on what you expect at that price point and the market.
