Know it has been asked before, but maby there are updates
Any plans for creating EU servers?
Long story short, the company i work at has just been bought by a big +60k employees German company. That comes with new IT security guideline; one of them is “all data stored in EU”. Most of our apps are build in glide/native tables. PITA to chance (basicly rebuild) all of them in a SQL solution.
Danny,
We appreciate the strong interest in Glide from our EU customers. Right now, adding EU-based servers isn’t on our roadmap, but we understand why this is important. There are significant engineering, cost, and regulatory factors to consider, and while we continue to evaluate them, we don’t have any updates to share at this time.

Hi Danny
Personally and professionally, I would love for the EU to have a strong software industry. In principle and in practice. I live in Germany, I am a little familiar with the stance of German and DACH companies with regards to GDPR.
You probably won’t be able to have an influence on the internal guidelines of the IT department of a conglomerate with 60k employees.
It’s important to note that when it comes to GDRP – DGSV in Germany, RGPD in French – many people including workers in IT and legal departments believe that “all data stored in EU” is a necessary condition to being GDPR-compliant. In my understanding of GDPR, this is not the case. Data need not be stored in the EU. However, an “EU-US data transfer compliance mechanism” is a necessary (and insufficient) requirement.
