I’d love to hide the icons tab menu and show it only whenever needed.
After all, why show it permanently, when you only need to use it to switch main section of your app?
For tactile devices (mobile, tablets), it could also look like the standard (+) button (with a customizable icon other than only “+” to match with the app goals & targets) that displays a “XD-Figma-Like” overlay with a set of icons. And if you can blur and decrease the background opacity to lay stress on the overlay, that would be incredible (yes, that’s XD-Figma-Style)
