Hi,
My potential client is asking about security and back up of data. I plan to setup users information fully on Glide Table.

  1. if I use row owners of course data is downloaded only for that particular user. How secure is the data on Glide Table? Do we have some statistics? Any compromises so far on Glide server that affects user data stored there?

  2. Backup - from the Glide Table, how do we manage back ups so that we always have a copy of Users information stored somewhere safe in case of catastrophe like Glide server down?

Not sure if you can setup a cron/schedule to automatically export the data

1/As long as you use row owners and give access to the right people then the data will be secured. In the past there was a glitch that allows people with a little bit of browser knowledge to access data not secured by row owners/roles in the Sheet but not with Glide Tables as far as I aware.

2/I think the most straightforward option is to have someone go to the settings and export the data as Dan shows above. Another one is to create a very complex flow to have all tables duplicated to a Google Sheet anytime there is an add/edit action in Glide Tables.

From my limited understanding, are we not ALWAYS working with a glide table ? Even when we have a google sheet the app is only talking to the Glide Sheet and doesn’t even know if the Google Sheet exists or not ? Hence, the security issue when NOT using row owners will be there regardless of Google Sheets or Glide Sheets ?

Also, even if you have row owners set but have highly sensitive data in the row, that you want to protect then you can use Protected Columns, this will prevent from that data being pulled into the client app. You can edit them but it will not allow you to show the data even to the row owner.
