Rebuild app to gain speed

Hi Gliders,

I have an app currently at 18k rows. It’s been running pretty slow on both old and new beta player.

Almost anytime I switch to other apps on mobile and come back to the app it crashes and restarts. The restart process takes 15sec each time and I need the app working while meeting up with customers on the road. This makes us look unprofessional.

I was thinking about rebuilding the app from the ground up and optimize it using row owners and Glide big tables. This would take approx 3-4 months part time.

My question is should I start doing the rebuilding process or should I wait for a possible Glide tables and big tables merge update?

What type of backend are you using now? Is it Glide Tables already?

I wouldn’t bet on that happening.

Actually, a stated goal is that the distinction between Big Tables and Regular Tables will eventually go away. I don’t know what that will ultimately look like or how long it is expected to take, but that is the direction as far as I’m aware. This is one reason (I believe) why we see these computed column limitations progressively being removed from Big Tables.
