Just a quick share: a little feature for my fitness app, which has been another fun experiment with AI components. The app tracks the collective steps of our fitness group and turns them into a virtual journey across Europe.
Here’s how it works: We add up everyone’s steps, multiply them by 0.67 to convert them into ‘step-meters’, and then divide by a thousand for distance in kilometers. Using this distance, we chart our progress across a virtual map, starting from our base in Aegeri (we look up the farthest city reached from a list of cities with distances sourced via Chat GPT). A dynamically updated text field shows the city we’ve reached.
To make it visually engaging, I included an AI-component that displays an image of a mountainous horizon along with 2 dynamic text fields, to represent our start and end points. In our last 28-day program, the group managed to “travel” the length and breadth of many cities across Europe, which has been a motivator for everyone involved.
Just a little bit of fun and a sense of shared achievement for the users on their fitness journey……
