It’s possible that they send the audio directly to a transcription system, which converts it to text in real time. When you finish speaking, they simply save the final transcription as the result, without ever creating an actual audio file during the process.

Thanks for your replies!
I’ve started testing the feature and so far I’ve successfully recorded and transcribed audio messages around 30 minutes long without any issues. Everything worked smoothly, and the transcription was accurate and complete.
I haven’t hit a hard limit yet, but I’ll keep pushing the duration and let you know if I run into any cutoff or performance issues.
Happy to keep sharing updates as I explore more!

Hi again!
I just upgraded from a Legacy plan to the new Maker plan, and something strange happened: the audio transcription feature stopped working.
When I try to record audio, I can still record it, but the transcription doesn’t appear — instead, I get an error message.
Does anyone know if audio transcription is no longer available in the Maker plan? Or could this be a temporary issue due to the plan change?

Mobile iOS - nope 
Mac iOS - nope
Tried different tables, action tied to button or as part of a workflow, nothing has worked so far.
I believe others also have had a similar experience.

I moved my app to an Agency plan, still doesn’t work.
However, it works fine on MacOS desktop.
Doesn’t work on iOS.
But I did notice my recording, shows the data from the first row of the table.
When i tried moving the Inline list to another page on another Database, it still doesn’t work
Also, when i recorded it in English, it translated in Bahasa Malaysia/Indonesia (I’m in GMT+8 btw)

So now I got it to work on MacOS 
but still error on iPhone iOS

Clear and Done buttons
When recording is launched, ongoing and the user taps the check symbol to end the recording, the recording stops and processes. The processing is indicated by a spinning wheel that replaces the check. At the top, the buttons Clear and Done allow to clear the transcription or save it respectively.
Request 1: It would be nice if the buttons Clear and Done only appeared after the processing (spinning wheel) has ended. Currently, it is possible to tap Done before the end of the processing thereby losing the entire transcript.
Request 2: It would be nice if the button said Save instead of Done.
Adding a recording to an existing transcript
The record & transcribe component allows the user to record, end the recording, and then the user has three options: Clear, Done or record further by taping the mic symbol. Recording again appends the new transcription to the previous one, it doesn’t replace the previous one, and as is, this feature is wonderful.
Request 3: The appended transcription is appended to the previous transcription with no space nor a line break. It would be nice if at the very minimum a simple spacebar space separated consecutive transcripts.

Do you have a filter in place at the tab level? If so, could you send a screenshot?

You don’t have any filter in place on that screen at all? I got an Transcription failed error message and the error message seemed related to a filter on the page. It seemed bizarre but I was able to reproduce the issue consistently.
I haven’t tested thoroughly yet. My initial tests seem to indicate my feature with the Record & Transcribe action works fine in the builder, works fine in production in the browser in Chrome, and works fine in production on an Android phone. I have yet to test iOS and Safari. I’ll be doing those tests in the next few days.
No filters.
Just a simple unfiltered, non user specific etc etc glide table.
Going to start from scratch with a brand new table - wish me luck

Starting from scratch helps me sometimes. I usually avoid copy-pasting or duplicating because I never really know what I’m duplicating under the hood.

Oh well, just created a brand new app (no filters etc), added record and transcribe, same error.
Works in builder not in live for mobile or desktop, Mac and iPhone.
Giving up now. Will revisit in a few days maybe a few bugs need ironing out.
What devices do you need it to work on? If you want to share your app, here in the forum or in DM, I can help test the following:
- Chrome on Android
- Browser (Chrome, Safari, Arc) on Macbook

Did you notice how the icon for the mic in Safari is red?
I have no idea how this feature works. If the transcription happens on the server side, on Glide’s servers, then perhaps Safari is not sending the data to the servers?
And if the transcription happens on the client side, on the user’s device directly, then I wonder if the error has to do with settings inside Safari: either recording voice, or permissions to read or transcribe an audio, or something else?
Three questions, no answers. Maybe ideas to investigate.

Wave/recording indicator reacts with voice so I know it is listening.
iOS
So just created a new team, and new app just with the Record & Transcribe - nothing else, no filters, user specific columns etc
It asked for permission to use recorder to transcribe (which is right and I then enable on each browser)
Works in glide builder.
Live Mobile iOS - not working
Live Safari on Mac - not working
Live Chrome on Mac - not working
Hmmmmmm, either I’m and idiot (which is possible) or it doesn’t work
