# When does Component option appear?

Sometimes when I click on a tab in layout mode, Components option appears in the right side menu, other times not. Trying to understand what are the conditions for the components to appear so that I can edit them. I see Properties (Layout, Features, Add)–but sometimes Components appears…is it that Components appears only when a new tab is created otherwise, they reside under the Add tab?

Components are only available when you choose LAYOUT\>STYLE = DETAILS

A few other implications for your layout choice. Too much to write out so you can see this video. You may have already figured out when you get the nice, clean “+” to add vs. only edit, but just in case. Of course adding via the + button still allows you to configure edit conditions and filters.
