In a glide table, I use the `math` type. In the configuration field how do I implement auto-increment?

You just said the same thing but in other words. Do you mean that you want to have an “ID” auto-incremented for each row?

> This is a question that comes up a lot, so creating this topic to use as a reference. Typically, there are two distinct use cases when it comes to auto-incrementing row numbers. Use Case 1: – We need to generate a Part Number, or an Order Number, or an Employee ID. Once the number is generated, it should never change, even if rows are deleted. – The general approach for this use case is to maintain a static counter, use it to craft a suitably formatted ID, and increment it by one every time…

Some other values. NOT “rowID”!

NOT an ID of sorts. Just some value.

this is what I’m trying to do.

`Increment` is an action which you can use on a component that is compatible with actions. Through this `increment` action, you perform +x to a number (x can be positive, negative, an integer, a decimal, etc.)

If you want to automatically increment across an entire column, let’s say column A is a columns of numbers:

1. Create a column B with your increment. This column B can be a `number` column, a `template` column, a `single value` column. If you are unfamiliar with these column types, you can look them up in [Glide Docs](https://www.glideapps.com/docs/automation/computed-columns/template-column).
2. Create a column C which is a computed `math` column: configure as A+B. Column C will be the results of column A incremented by column B, row by row.
