# User Specific columns - public app

Hello all

Am I right in saying User Specific columns still work with public apps with optional sign in - when a user is not signed in (for temporary values, such as filter states, tab selections etc)

It seems they do work (up until a browser refresh) but without getting 20 / 30 people to log into my anonymous app to test I’m not sure how I can be sure! (Have tested on separate browsers / computers myself). I can’t see it documented anywhere

I’m 95% sure the answer is yes, but would like to be 100% before I go too much further.

Your assumptions are correct. User Specific columns work exactly the same regardless of whether the user is signed in or not. The only difference is that the values will not persist across sessions/devices when a user is not signed in.
