# Unable to add choice component to layout

I did as you said however custom collection doesn’t show values I tried to add choice component in it using that + under it in left side bar but upon pressing choice component nothing appeared in layout

Ok so it sounds like that table might be read only. I’m out of ideas at the moment

Just to be clear you tried adding a component to the custom collection itself correct? There is a plus button just under “custom collection”

Yes, there is a plus button under ‘Custom Collection’ (as you can see in the screenshot). I tried adding a choice component using this button, but I believe I have identified the root cause of the problem, which is that my table is coming from a SELECT query, meaning it might be read-only (because I am using query instead of table directly)
