# Tooltip icon/text Column in Tables & Data Grids

Space is a premium in tables and data grids. You also want the information displayed to be easy to digest and not overwhelming.

Example, we have a large data grid showing a product range with various columns for product type and applications etc. We’d love to display the “Notes” filed for the products but the text can be long for a column and would add a lot of text to the data grid when viewing as a whole.

**Solution:**  
Tooltip column type.  
This column could display text or an icon perhaps with a similar design to the tag column. But when users hover there is a tooltip popup with the selected data value, in our case text.
