My question is similar to @Krivo - I grew up on GlideApps and am still a bit confused as to where to start with pages and why I would want to choose them over apps - they seem to be very responsive so maybe the question should be - why would I now choose an app over pages when starting a new project? And how can i learn the differences w/o sorting thru the hundreds of posts in community? Thx. ---

Do you have _types_ of projects that your team takes on? For instance: - Reporting dashboards - Client portals (for information and file sharing purposes thus reducing email) - Inventory applications - Event applications Maybe building _types_ of projects is better phrased than “starting from templates”. I ask because I have been asked to build 100% custom projects that don’t seem to fit into a broad category or type of application, and I’ve turned down such projects. ---

@kabookie the reason I choose Apps over Pages are: 1. Barcode scanner - I don’t think this is used by many other companies. But we use the barcode scanner like there’s no tomorrow. 2. Signature - We use the signature component for handing over inventory (laptops, mobiles, uniforms, vehicles, etc) and for signing documnets. 3. Pictures - If we need pictures and want to ensure they are only taken from the camera, this is where a Glide App is ideal for us. I like to think of it this way. I view the Glide App for collecting data and executing predefined processes. The Glide Pages we use are for the core team to manage all the processes. I forgot to add, but also gather locations. This can be very useful. ---

Companies typically have a lot of internal data. How do you convince the company including especially the IT department that it is a good idea to connect the data from within the company with a cloud service like Glide and Make. How do you convince them that the data is secure? ---

How do you convince them that the data is secure? I just direct them to read Glide’s Security documentation. A LOT of Fortune 500/1000 companies already have their data in the cloud. We have a few Fortune 100 companies as clients using Glide. It’s unusual that using cloud services is a blocker. ---

@Mitch_Thorp1 Are you using the native barcode scanner - and are successful in doing so. The functionality has not gotten a very good review - and some people find it not working well. ---

@Krivo yes we are still using the native barcode scanner. We have been looking at upgrading but we have been managing. The first app we launched on Glide is centered around the barcode scanner. The app has been live for a year now. I agree there have been issues, but it still works. We have 11 users that focus on the barcode scanner. The native barcode scanner is good enough for an MVP launch. We have been discussing using a third-party software, but the need has not become critical for us just yet. ---

@kabookie it is possible through pages. But with apps, you can limit to only from the camera and not the gallery. If you don’t need the restriction, then you can do it through the page ---

Can the pages be downloaded to a phone like an app? That is the main feature for my users. I haven’t seen any documentation like that for pages. ---
