# Is there a way to collect real user emails after users stop using the application?

Hi everyone,
I have a small application which I had used for an event. My problem is that at the time I forgot to toggle collect real user emails. I need to contact the users now. I tried to turn it on, but unfortunately, that didn’t magically decrypt the emails. Any tips?

I don’t think it’s possible to do so… Only new logins will store real email addresses

> We can switch back and forth between the two settings. Real and anonymous email addresses can coexist in the same app. If we turn the feature on or off – existing emails in our app **won’t change** – only the new emails that come in will be affected by the current setting.
