# 'Input Text' component-everything is greyed out

Hello,  
I’m new to Glide and I am playing with some ideas. I was just trying to create an app to collect data. I have a Google Slide with four columns with headings. I added four ‘input text’ components and the column headings automatically showed up but greyed out. I can not input anything. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you are trying to use entry components in a detail view mode. You should be using the add button or a form button to add a new records to the sheet.
