# In the US children staying at hotels, is VAT applied before or after whatever the child discount?

Hello gliders.

Anyone know if VAT is applied before or after whatever % discount per child staying at hotels in the US or is this discretionary?

I can’t say this is the correct answer, but I believe most things are taxed against the value prior to any discounts.

You apply the vat to whatever final price, i.e, after discount. Worst tax in the world (21% in Spain!!!)
