# In-app filters ignore main filter

I set up a main filter to show certain products using an Active/Discontinued check.

Then I added an in-app filter to search by category but it’s showing categories that should have been filtered as being not Active.

I think that’s the way it has always worked (by taking all the values in the column you specified for the filter), I understand where you’re coming from though.

A workaround for this is to have an If \> Then \> Else column, if sub-category is discontinued then empty, else sub-category, then use the ITE column for filtering.

Or the brainiacs at Glide could add additional filter options to the in-app section.
