Hi Everyone,

I was wondering to get help regarding the database, I wanted to change the DB from excel to glide tables, however the system does not allow me to do so, is there anyway to do it?
I have changed individual tables however Users table does not get supported with this action.

Thanks

I’ve never used Excel with Glide, but I have read that if you duplicate an App that uses Excel as a data source, then all tables are automatically converted to native tables.

So give that a try. When duplicating, I’d guess that you’ll probably need to choose the “Copy the sheet” option.

Yeah, but in such a case the master file still remains the excel.

@Abhinav_Hans Key point right here. Excel is a bit unique. If you duplicate an app and data that uses Excel as a data source, it creates copies of the tables as Glide tables. At least that’s been the case in the past. Have you tried it?

Yes, I have tried the same but the main DB file still remains the same as excel rest all are changed to glide tables, due to which I need to make users table in excel sheet.

Hmm, @David_Gabler would you have any thoughts on this since you have experience with Excel?

In my experience, if you duplicate the app, and copy the table it becomes a glide table not excel. I will have to try it again when I at my computer, it’s been a while.

Well, here I am at a standstill, because the only App I have using an Excel is a “Classic App”, and they can no longer be duplicated. So if your App is Classic, you cannot duplicate it anyway.

Well, I chose the option “create new app from source” and chose “keep the same sheet” so I would end up with an new App using Excel.

Then I duplicated that App, and all the tables became Native Tables. So, yes it still works like that.
I wish we could just have a “Duplicate Table in Native Format” selection on a right click. It should be noted also that none of the features of the Classic App are duplicated, and you will have to rebuild.

oh thank you so much David, I have one doubt in this, my app is entirely in glide table, only the user DB is excel and master sheet, will this trick works for such a case as well.

If your app is a classic app I wouldn’t.

If it’s a new app then yes it will work flawlessly.
