# Go to Tab or Open new screen?

I have 8 link images (I could use buttons) on a “menu” tab that take the user to a new screen (8 variants) where they then enter a value for various calculations.  
I wrote this app some time ago and chose “open new screen” rather than “go to a tab” but I cant remember why!  
Can anyone give me guidance as to which is better and why?

Either way works. One opens a screen linked to a tab. The other opens a screen linked only to that component. There’s a better chance that you won’t accidentally delete a tab, unlike ‘Show New Screen’ which is only linked to the component that calls that action.
