**As of October 31st 2025, Glide teams must be on a paid plan to publish apps.** Teams on a Free plan can still build and [preview](https://www.glideapps.com/docs/getting-started/intro-to-layout#device-preview) apps in the builder, but if they try to publish, they’ll see a prompt to upgrade to a paid plan. [You can view the available plans on our website.](https://www.glideapps.com/pricing) **Why the change to the Free plan?** A number of performance and security factors led to this change. Hey @NoCodeAndy! I agree that this change will prevent spammers, bad actors, and ne’er-do-wells from publishing dangerous apps. Does this only affect NEW team folders or will published apps on existing free plans be auto-unpublished? ---

I understand that Glide wants to improve safety and prevent spam or phishing apps — that makes sense. But this new rule feels unfair to ordinary users who simply create personal or small hobby apps for themselves, family, or friends. Not everyone is trying to publish harmful or commercial projects. Before this change, Glide was a great platform for learning, experimenting, and sharing — even for those who couldn’t afford a paid plan yet. Now it feels like honest creators are being punished for the actions of a few bad actors. Maybe there could be a middle way: for example, allow one personal app to be published on the Free plan, or require a content review instead of blocking publishing completely. This would keep Glide safe and friendly for new creators. ---

If that price is still too steep, Glide likely isn’t going to be the right fit for what you need. ---

I appreciate the suggestion and your attention! $19/month is a bit steep for me right now. I would consider paying if developing in Glide could generate comparable income. On the free plan, I managed to build a portfolio of 15 apps, some even for real people, but for free. In my region, most people aren’t familiar with Glide or mobile apps for their needs, and $19 on a $300/month salary is a significant amount. ---

What a terrible info. I just can tell you many french teachers were using glide to build 1 or 2 apps for their pupils. No they wont be able to share their knowledge and lead others to use glide too. The end of glide use for every french teachers. Noone will pay every month for this during job life time. Too bad… ---

How long do you think it will before the currently published apps will be required to move to a paid plan? I am asking because the apps I have published: 1. run for free for a not for profit so I need to think about warning them that they are going to have to start paying. 2. I have a couple of apps that I could possibly merge into one to keep costs down so I also need to plan this development. Some guidance on this would be appreciated. ---
