# Data Grid - Feature Requests

The current Data Grid component is a welcome feature but is essentially a plain spreadsheet and more functionality would turbocharge it! 🏎💨 I’m aware of the improved table component with more columns coming soon, but there will always be a place and need for a spreadsheet like component for viewing dense data.

**Data Grid Feature Requests:**

- Color Columns, Rows and Cells _- option to choose the colour of whole columns, rows or specific cells._
- Borders _- control border width and colour for specific columns and rows._
- Bold Text
- Per Column Sorting

These features will make the Data Grid easier to digest visually when viewing lots of data.

I would like to be able to specify the editing component used in each column. For example, allow developer to specify a choice component or date component… for each column. Currently, we can make data editable, when that is turned on allow selection and configuration of a editing component.

Detail View - Clickable Data Grid Item so you can drill down into the data  
The table view is limited to 3 items - the data grid view opens up design options

Another feature request for the new data grid:

• Option to freeze header row - so this still displays when scrolling  
• Option to freeze header columns

When using pagination with the data grid the row numbers start from 1 again on the second page.

Might just be me but I’d prefer it to carry on from the previous page. i.e. If the page goes up to 200 rows, page 2 should start with 201.
