# Custom Action for Links

Hi!

I would like to count the clicks on a link in my app, but the action option is available. When I put the link into an action text, it shows the entire link which doesnt look good. Any work arounds for this?

Instead of showing the URL in the Action Text component, show the text/message that you want.  
Then use a multi-step action, with one of those steps being an “Open Link” action, with the URL as the target.

PS. I’m suggesting a multi-step action, because presumably you also want to Increment a counter at the same time, yes?

Kind of related to the increments, can I apply increment actions to tabs to count how many times they are clicked?

No you can’t. Currently we don’t have action on “opening tabs”.
