Hi there -

I’m looking to create a new app off the same data sheet as an existing app. The existing app and new app are both the new version, but the option in the menu isn’t there any more to achieve this (as far as I can see).

Menu from a “classic” app:

Menu from a the new breed of apps:

Would it be best to use an external data source like Google sheets and link both apps to that?

Thanks for your help!

The “New App from data” option only appears for Classic Apps.
If you want to create a new App based on a “non-Classic” App, you can simply duplicate it.

Thanks! To clarify, I’m looking to do it so that a change in the data in one app can be reflected in the other app - I’m assuming duplicating won’t enable that?

It depends. Have a read of the below:

> The way your question is posed is a little confusing, so I won’t try and answer it directly. Instead I’ll explain how it works, and maybe that will help. First thing is that it’s important to understand the difference between Basic and Computed columns. Maybe you already do, but it’s vital in this context so I’ll explain it anyway. Basic Columns are those columns that contain actual data, as opposed to data that’s calculated from other columns. Text, Email, Image, Date/time are all examples o…

The above was in the context of “New App from data”, but it applies equally when duplicating an App.
