# Conditions for Counting Updates with Google Sheets Sync"

Hi, I have a question about how updates are counted when syncing Glide with Google Sheets.
1. Does keeping the Google Spreadsheet open affect the update count in Glide?
2. Is there a specific time interval (e.g., within a few minutes) during which multiple edits are counted as a single update in Glide?
3. What are the exact conditions that determine when an update is consumed in Glide during synchronization?
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn’t find the exact answer. Thank you!

One updste per sync. Not per row.

I have one more question.
When I press the “Sync” button in the Data tab, an update is definitely consumed. However, I’ve noticed that when I edit a cell in the app and confirm that it has synced with Google Sheets, sometimes the update is not consumed.
From the documentation you provided, I understood that an update is consumed when data is synced to the Google Sheet. Am I misunderstanding something, or is there a specific condition where updates are not consumed even when the data syncs?
For context, I am building an equipment management app in Glide to track whether certain devices are active or inactive during the current month. The app is updated frequently throughout the month.
The frequency of update consumption impacts our budget, and I need to report to my supervisor if there’s a need to change our plan. My goal is to better understand how updates are consumed so I can create a workflow that avoids unnecessary usage.

No update are consumed on non enterprise team when updating cells from Glide data editor for a google sheet.
