I have a checkbox list however I cannot get the data into user specific column. Any idea of a workaround?

I have a checkbox for different locations I would like users to choose the location and for that data to be saved for that user however when I try to use user specific for the column its not an option. do you know why? I have row ids…

But if they can choose one location and save that in their profile you can make that without a user-specific column and make a choicer that points to the column of the user.
